Preplacement and Statutory Medicals

IOH staff are experienced in performing worker medical assessments including:

  • Preplacement (Pre-employment)
  • Exit Medicals
  • Confined Space
  • Commercial and Truck Drivers
  • Occupational & Recreational Divers
  • Spraypainter
  • Hazardous Substance
  • NSW Order 41 & QLD Coal Board
  • Railway (Cat 1, Cat 2 & Cat 3) Health Assessments

These medicals aim at identifying factors that may put the worker or others at risk by performing the duties of the job.
IOH also provides:

  • Fitness for Duty Assessments; for workers returning from both work related and life related injuries.
  • Second Opinions of injuries
  • Independent Medical Examination (IME)
  • Injury Management Consultants (IMCs)
  • Functional Capacity Evaluations; an in depth evaluation of a worker with an existing injury

Components of a preplacement medical may include any or all of the following:

  • Review of medical & employment history
  • Hearing assessment (Audiometry)
  • Vision & colour vision testing
  • Lung function test (using Spirometry)
  • ECG
  • Kraus Webber and Range of Movement
  • Drug & Alcohol screening
  • Pathology
  • Musculoskeletal / Functional Assessments
