Prevention, Treatment, And rehabilitation of workplace injuries

Provide First Aid

Previously known as both Senior First Aid and then Apply First Aid (HLTFA311A), this 1 day course is now titled Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) and is suitable for workplace first aid officers or anyone who wishes to gain valuable skills to deal with emergencies and preserve life. This course focuses on practical skills and ensuring the student gains confidence to help others in an emergency.

A refresher course is recommended every three years for re-certification. The Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that CPR is renewed every 12 months. Furthermore industry or employer requirements may stipulate re-certification time frames.

Prerequisite

Each participant MUST complete the pre-course Knowledge Quiz by either doing the online eBook or a hard copy First Aid workbook version which can be collected from IOH.

Can I get sued if I try to help someone and something goes wrong?
First aid is about sustaining life and minimising further injury until emergency help arrives. Doing something is better than doing nothing. Having the knowledge and skills to assist in an emergency may make a significant difference to the outcome. As long as you make a reasonable attempt to help a person, the NSW Civil Liability Act 2002 (sometimes known as the Good Samaritan Act) states that individuals will not incur personal civil liability.

For more information please view NSW Civil Liability Act 2002
